Apartment on Gedimino Ave. 48-4, Vilnius. Interior and restoration project

The apartment is located in an old building, situated downtown Vilnius, Gedimino av. 48. Apartament building was built in the year 1897.
At the beginning of work, some architectural, structural, and polychromy decoration research has been done.
As the original planning and space structure of the apartment survived up to nowadays, we decided to keep it as original as possible. While designing existing space to contemporary needs, both function, kitchen, and bathroom were transferred into the shower room, main living room – kitchen open space created, bedroom and work – guests room also. Based on a functional plan, furniture, lighting system, and electric installation were designed.
During work, existing wooden structure slab reinforced, original partitions repaired, flooring finish replaced, balcony handrail and flooring restored, original doors and windows, built-in made of oak cupboards restored also.
Original, end-of-XIX century ceilings’ polychromy and embossed decoration were conservated with the aim to keep their authenticity. This decoration became an axis, the starting point to create decisions for all, walls, flooring surfaces, furniture colors, materiality, and style.
