How to deal with dust: 9 tips that work

Even if you put into practice the ideas of minimalism, get rid of dust, and close all books and knick-knacks behind cabinet doors, in most cases a person will not be able to live in such an “ascetic” space for a long time. It is possible in our realities to want minimalism very much and strive for it, but we must be aware of how long such purity of lines will last for you?

Can you really not only live but also maintain this way of life and order? And only when you can answer “yes” to yourself with 100% accuracy and confidence, then ask for minimalism, closed surfaces, concrete and medical steel.

Tip 1: Vacuum the walls

Dust settles even on the walls, and they also need to be vacuumed from time to time. And wallpapers, especially structural ones with various lurex, collect dust much more than polyester curtains.

Tip 2: make part of the shelves in the kitchen open

Dust in closed cabinets collects in the same way as in open cabinets. Checked and nothing can be done about it. Open shelves in the kitchen are only suitable for items that you use daily. Neither cups nor glasses have time to get dirty, because I wash them almost every day. They are stored upside down: so nothing will ever get inside them. Large salad bowls and planters with a flower do not interfere much: if you need to wipe the shelf once a week, then it is easy to remove them.

Tip 3: But don’t do it in a small kitchen

Open shelves can become taboo for very small spaces. If your kitchen is 2.5 x 2.5 meters, then probably the best solution would be to install a closed floor-to-ceiling storage system.

Tip 4: Clean up open bookshelves once a month

Do not forget that a decent library with a storage system, comfortable shelves, and good doors costs a lot of money. Therefore, if there is no point in spending them, then the question of doors on cabinets disappears by itself. At the same time, it is enough for me to clean the shelves once a month with a conventional vacuum cleaner.

Tip 5: Hide unnecessary decor items

Any piece of decor can be called a whim. You can definitely live without it. There is such a thing as a necessary and sufficient minimum. So, everyone has their own minimum. If I collect white porcelain and each “head” I have is associated with a certain life adventure, then I will not hide it in a distant closet to sometimes get it and admire it. I want to see her every day.

But there are still a good hundred different decors in the boxes on the mezzanines, which I periodically take out, and my mini-exposition changes depending on the mood, the season, my desire to bring something new into the interior. Therefore, I advise you to clean up the excess and sometimes change your vases, just so that there is a feeling of something new and interesting in the dream house.

Tip 6: Take care of your paintings

Do you think that paintings are not dust collectors? What more! But unlike vases and other decor, they cannot be taken to the bathroom and washed. Therefore, a good fluffy dust collector and a soft microfiber cloth come to the rescue here. Once a month, very carefully clean all photos and paintings from dust. This takes approximately 30 minutes.

Tip 7: Replace carpets with runners

All carpets can be completely replaced with tracks, which are very convenient to clean. It is enough to shake them out on the street.

Tip 8: Take good care of your pets

If you want to live clean, do not forget to fight dirt and wool. For large dogs walking on the street, even at the stage of repair, a shower for washing paws can be provided. This will get rid of excess dirt in the house. As for the coat, it is enough to comb the dog or cat every day during the molting period, and after the procedure, brush through the coat with a wet hand or a special rubber glove.

Tip 9: Clean once a month, but clean every day

Do general cleaning by visiting all the most hidden places in the apartment once or twice a year – usually in spring and autumn. It takes about 4-5 hours for an apartment in 70 sq. m. If you didn’t have all the above interior items, animals, and other things, then all the same we don’t think that cleaning would take much less time, since no one frees us from the routine: mopping, vacuuming, taking apart the closet, and other things.

Daily procedures that relate to putting things in order in the house greatly reduce the time spent in the end on general cleaning. For example, in five minutes you can wash the sink, in 15 minutes you can clean the plumbing, in the morning after home training, you can wash the floors.

But if you do nothing for a week, two, or a month, then general cleaning can take almost the whole day. And we perfectly understand that in this case, you will not be able to talk about any vases, open shelves, and other joys without a shudder. So maybe it’s better to clean every day for five minutes than once, but 24 hours?
