Unusual light sources in the interior: from photo panels to frosted glass screens

The cheerful atmosphere of a spacious apartment, decorated in a modern spirit, sets you up for a comfortable rest and communication.

The lighting scenario is varied: from direct natural insolation (the sun’s rays penetrate deep into the apartment through the panels of frosted glass doors) to such unusual sources of lighting as a photo panel and a magnificent onyx “screen” decorating the “front” area.

The owners wanted their new home to be comfortable, functional, and modern, with plenty of storage space, mostly in dressing rooms or spacious built-in wardrobes. Two bedrooms were required, one of which was to serve as an office, a living room and a semi-autonomous kitchen-dining room adjacent to it, and two bathrooms. They planned to turn a large loggia into a walk-through insulated zone between the bedroom and the living room, and the second loggia (next to the kitchen) – to delegate the role of a utility room.

Redevelopment

An apartment without internal load-bearing walls (except for the segment between the current kitchen and living room) resembles three elongated rectangles adjoining each other. The windows are on two sides. The guest bathroom next to the entrance area was expanded with a corridor to accommodate a spacious shower compartment. To the right of the entrance door is the bathroom, its area was increased by adding part of the passage area. In the very center of the apartment, there are two dressing rooms: one enters from the corridor, the other – from the master bedroom. Between the outer walls of the living room and bedroom, which form a right angle, there is a large loggia of complex shape with entrances from both rooms through standard doorways. From the side of the living room, the opening was widened (having received the appropriate permits), strengthened, and provided with two glass sliding panels.

Nature image

The main decoration of the kitchen-dining room is a natural onyx panel on the wall next to the dining table. For him, they chose a slab with a large and expressive pattern. The panel was attached to the wall, an LED backlight was installed behind it (you can turn it on without getting up from the table). On both sides, this luminous “screen” is held by panels of panels lined with dark brown wood veneer, the same as on the apron. The panels cut through narrow horizontal bands of aluminum profiles, forming a strict rhythmic pattern.

Repair

A screed was completed in the apartment, new partitions were erected from tongue-and-groove blocks, and the walls were plastered. The ceilings were leveled with plasterboard, in the bathroom and bathroom, in separate areas residential interiors also used stretch glossy structures. In general, the level of the ceilings was lowered by 15 cm, which made it possible to hide electrical communications behind them and install lamps. Air conditioners were placed in the bedrooms and the living room, external units were installed on the facades, in specially designated places. Windows in wooden bindings and window sills were not changed, and the entrance loggia was insulated (floor, ceiling, walls). Electric floor heating was installed in the areas finished with tiles, in other rooms the floors were covered with parquet boards. In the bathroom, a boiler was hidden behind a special partition; there is also a washing machine and access to plumbing communications. The walls were partially painted and partially covered with decorative plaster (like the ceilings) with the effect of mother-of-pearl.

“Light Screens”

In the apartment, along with swing doors, the panels of which resemble decorative panels, sliding models with upper suspensions are used in several rooms. So, the passage between the sun-drenched loggia and the living room is covered by two “screens” made of frosted glass, each 90 cm wide – the light curtain creates interesting decorative effects at different times of the day. A sliding mirror door separates the bedroom from the dressing room – this is not only a practical detail, but also a decorative item.

Design

During the day, most of the interiors are filled with natural light. The premises are decorated in the spirit of urban contemporary with the dominance of light colors. It is enlivened by juicy, but not sharp contrasts. Large windows help create a cheerful, airy environment: there are six of them in the outer walls of the apartment, and natural insolation for most of the day is responsible for a positive mood.

Luminaires are selected taking into account the design features of each zone. very light materials and golden wood veneer were used in the furniture decoration

The apartment is located in a new monolithic-frame house. A lot of light penetrates through the large windows, also due to the corner arrangement. Part of the furniture is made to order according to my drawings. For example, the panel for the TV in the living room, with three shelves in a wide frame, equipped with backlight. This composition was complemented by decor: on metal cables with built-in electrical wiring, stretched between the floor and ceiling, a series of backlit photo frames were attached along the wall – in the future, pictures from the family collection will appear here. The ceiling of the corridor is crossed by uneven wide strips of plasterboard, behind which the backlight is hidden. The relief pattern goes to one of the walls and continues to the floor, replacing other decoration techniques.
