Trends 2023/2024: sleeping system as a ritual of self-care

Midsummer Milano presented the Top sleeping system during Milan Design Week. “Top perfectly embodies our commitment to offering our customers the very best in terms of design, choice of natural materials and fabrics,” says Chiara Mennini, Founder and Chief Designer of Midsummer.

The new sleeping system is fully upholstered in Loro Piana Interiors fabric. The case does not have metal or wooden legs – only at the bottom, the structure rests on a thin platform made of walnut, which emphasizes the geometry of the object.

The sleeping system was developed in collaboration with Italian designer Daniela Puppa. The mattress of the Top sleeping system has 5440 springs for maximum comfort. Like all Midsummer Milano mattresses, it has a winter side and a summer side. Filled with warm cashmere, alpaca, mohair, horsehair, and wool for cold nights and linen, silk, horsehair, and wool for high breathability and comfort in hot weather. The topper also has two sides – filled with linen and yak wool, respectively.

The upholstery system also helps create a harmonious look. The winter side of the mattress is upholstered in soft Ely’s Harbor linen and warm cashmere and finished with decorative piping that matches the color of the base. For the summer side, durable Connemara linen is used. The combination of warm hues, clean lines, and natural materials help to create a classic and timeless look that turns the bedroom system into a complete decor element of the space. However, in addition to aesthetic value, the Top system carries the idea of a daily ritual of self-care, which ensures a high quality of sleep.
