2017 marked the centenary of the avant-garde movement De Stijl. Among its prominent representatives are Pete Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg, Gerrit Rietveld and others. In Holland – the birthplace of neoplasticism – a series of interesting exhibitions are timed to coincide with the event.

The discovery of Mondrian. Amsterdam, Paris, London, New York.
The exhibition is dedicated to the life and work of Pete Mondrian, one of the founders of the De Stijl movement, and his influence on the art of the 20th century. The exposition will include about 300 works, personal belongings, letters and photographs. You can also see the artist’s last painting – Victory Boogie Woogie. Architecture and Interiors De Stijl. The focus of the exhibition is on the origins of neoplasticism. For the first time, they promise to collect in one space an impressive number of De Stijl exhibits of the 20th century: paintings, drawings, drawings, architectural models, and pieces of furniture. Municipal Museum of The Hague (10 June – 17 September)
Fashion in Style Exhibition Here you can see collections of fashion designers inspired by the works of Piet Mondrian and other representatives of neoplasticism. Among the exhibits are creations of fashion houses and ordinary people. For example, the legendary Mondrian dress (1965) by Yves Saint Laurent, Prada, Moschino, and others. In addition, the exhibition will show the best projects of 300 students of the Mondrian Technical University of The Hague, created by them on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the movement. Artist’s House. A prototype of the Artist’s House on a scale of 1: 5 will be shown on the historic Het Gerecht square in Leiden. The iconic neoplastic project was designed by Theo Van Doesburg, creator of the art magazine De Stijl, together with the architect Cornelius van Esteren in 1923, but never came to fruition.
