6 Practical and Stylish Home Office Tips

How to find the best place for effective work at home, what are the advantages of an organizer board, and why place a mirror above your desk? We share the secrets of creating the perfect home office.

1. Choose a place

Happy are those who can put a full-fledged table in a separate room allocated for this. But a home office doesn’t have to be a full-fledged office—you just need a laptop nook where you won’t be disturbed.

Such a place can be found anywhere, even in the garage , in the shed of a country house or in an unused “blind” corner of the kitchen.

The ideal location is a separate table by a well-lit window. In this case, there is another advantage: without getting up from your work chair, you can periodically do exercises for your eyes, switching to looking at distant objects on the street.

2. Add colors

Most often, people work at home at odd hours – early in the morning or late in the evening. Furniture in neutral colors will serve as a background, and if there is a task to cheer up, then use color more boldly. If you place a workplace in a niche, an obsessive irritant will not interfere with your rest. You can also decorate the countertop in an interesting way: upholster it with a cloth, paint it, or wallpaper it.

3. Create an idea board

We all periodically write something down, sketch, and leave reminders everywhere to ourselves. A good move is to attach all these pieces of paper and stickers not to a computer, tablet, notepad, or walls, but to special cork sheets inserted into elegant frames. Thus, all your notes will be stored in one place, and the board itself will turn into a “live”, constantly changing art object.

4. Organize convenient storage

If your desk doesn’t have drawers, or there aren’t enough drawers, use the wall above your workspace for extra storage. Hang a couple of shelves, place small cardboard boxes and document holders – put all the necessary supplies in them, including printer paper. Dilute office items with decorative elements – wooden words, paintings, and souvenirs.

5. Decorate your wall for inspiration

One way to make working from home more productive is to hang inspirational pictures in front of your eyes. Posters, illustrations, and magazine clippings will perfectly fit into the interior of the working corner. They can be attached to the painted wall with double-sided tape. For wallpapers and other delicate surfaces, it is better to use a special washi tape – it is not only decorative but also easily peeled off.

6. Hang a mirror

In small apartments, it is difficult to find a place for both a workplace and a dressing table – why not combine them in one? Divide drawers for different items and fixtures, and fix a large mirror in a beautiful frame on the wall behind the monitor. Now you will have a good reason to admire yourself more often.
