Studio Masquespacio has developed a collection of ceramic tiles

The new series was created by a duo from Valencia for the Spanish brand Maora Ceramic. The colorful designs of Colección Maora tiles are inspired by nature and celebrate the fine craftsmanship that characterizes both Masquespacio’s designs and the company’s products. The studio team says that the joint project began with simple line sketches, which then turned into not only tiles, but also independent prints, vases and sculptures. In contrast to their bright interiors, in this collaboration the designers used white: according to the duo’s idea, it will help visually enlarge the space, bringing a sense of light and calmness to it. Ceramic tiles measuring 20×20 centimeters are assembled from hand-cast pieces: depending on the method of laying on the floor, walls or furniture, they form intricate and puzzle-like patterns. To paint the products, the craftsmen used glaze based on natural pigments – this solution made it possible to achieve shades that were more muted and closer to nature.
