Belle Epoque estate for sale in the Loire Valley

The estate in the heart of the Loire Valley, built in 1906, is one of the most beautiful Belle Epoque villas in France. This eclectic building is now up for sale.

Today known as Villa Alecya, this estate was formerly called Villa Chauveaus – in honor of its creators, the Chauveau family. Initially, they dreamed of a villa on the coast where they could relax on the weekends. But the planned sale of the land fell through, and they decided to build the house in the quiet village of Sainte-Catherine-de-Fierbois. Interestingly, most of the villa was created in Touraine and then transported to the village by train, where it was completed over the course of two years. At the time of completion, Villa Chauveaus looked unlike anything in the surrounding area – its facade combined elements of classical, baroque, gothic, and renaissance, as well as noticeable Anglo-Norman, Moorish, and Asian influences. What made it stand out was that it was equipped with the latest technologies at the beginning of the 20th century, including electricity and running water.

Over the next century, the house changed hands twice. The current owners, who purchased it in 2017 and renamed it Villa Alecya, opened the villa to guests as a hotel in 2019. But first, they carried out a complete restoration of the house and restored the surrounding gardens. The renovation revealed the unique character of the villa, maintaining the integrity of the original architecture while adding modern amenities. The house is also environmentally friendly thanks to the pellet heating system.

The house has an area of almost 700 sq. meters, nine bedrooms dedicated to the artists of the Belle Epoque, the music of Debussy and Puccini, as well as the works of Proust and Wilde, and the same number of bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is complemented by a spa with its own hammam, balneotherapy, and traditional sauna. The villa also has several Art Nouveau living rooms, a majestic Renaissance dining room, an office, a green winter garden, a functional kitchen with laundry room, a cinema room, a jacuzzi area, and a basement of over 120 sqm. meters, ideal for storing wine.

The villa is located in the heart of a park with orchards, next to a vegetable garden and a picturesque pond with an island and blooming cyclamens. On the 2.5 hectares of the estate, there are also outbuildings with a barn, a workshop, and two rooms with an area of 75 sq. m. meters in the former caretaker’s house.

Espaces Atypique agent Magali Boudry is exclusively selling the Belle Époque estate in Touraine for €1,590,000.
