12 ways to keep your nursery tidy

Tired of constant chaos in your kid’s room? We know how to avoid it: you just need to properly plan the space and organize storage. We share a dozen effective ideas in this regard.

1. Playing podium

A podium in a children’s room is a wonderful organizational move. Firstly, it effectively zones the space. Secondly, it unobtrusively determines the place for games. Thirdly, the podium can be supplemented with storage boxes and solve the problem of placing numerous toys and other children’s things.

2. Box on wheels

For an apartment that does not have a clearly designated children’s play area, as well as for little fidgets who turn the entire apartment into a play space, a box on wheels would be an excellent solution. It can be used to store and move toys, books, and sports equipment around the house. This not only speeds up the “delivery” of everything necessary to the child’s place of activity but also simplifies putting things in order after the games are over.

3. Mat-bag

An idea that has become a godsend for many mothers is combining the functions of a bag and a nursery rug in one item. During the games, the rug is spread on the floor, and when finished, the elastic band is tightened – and the toys are quickly collected in a bag.

You can purchase such a beanbag mat at various children’s goods stores, or you can sew it yourself.

4. Rack with boxes and drawers

A rack, complemented by drawers and boxes located within the baby’s reach, will not only help organize a spacious storage system for the nursery but will also teach the baby to be in order.

5. Carpet with a themed pattern

Another trick that helps concentrate a child’s play activity in a limited area is a rug with a themed play pattern. For example, with road markings for toy cars.

6. Competent organization

As trivial as it may seem, the mess in a children’s room is most often due to the fact that toys, books, and stationery simply do not have a permanent and specially designated place for them.

Organizers, drawers, and stickers with inscriptions (or drawings) that remind the little ones where everything is stored will help correct this situation.

7. Storing clothes at the child’s height

Storage organized at the baby’s height level will help solve the problem of scattered children’s clothing. As soon as the baby understands that he will have to collect and put things in their places himself, the level of disorder will become noticeably less.

8. Furniture with additional storage function

Furniture with the appropriate additional function will help organize storage and avoid clutter: a bench box, a pouf with a removable seat, and a bed with drawers.

Remember the main rule: more storage space means less clutter.

9. Cubby

Another effective way to, if not reduce clutter, then at least localize it is to create a cozy place for games in the room. This could be a stylized hut (a trend in modern children’s rooms) or an imitation of a “tree house”.

10. Creative area

A child exploring the world simply needs a special area for creativity. This way, you can channel the baby’s irrepressible energy “in a peaceful direction” – and instead of throwing toys around the room, the child will at least temporarily occupy himself with drawing, modeling, coloring, putting together mosaics, and other developmental activities.

11. Sports section

Another option that can redirect a child’s energy in the right direction is a sports corner.

12. Hooks and hangers

Wall hangers and hooks will help organize additional storage in any area of the children’s room.

If necessary, you can supplement them with hanging baskets or storage bags. Or use special organizers for the nursery. You’ll see: that maintaining order in the nursery will become much easier.
