How to get the most out of a small kitchen: 5 examples from designers

1. Kitchenette in apartments for daily rent

The design of this studio took a minimalistic approach to create a visually spacious and light space. The designers had to place everything necessary for a short stay of 1-2 guests in a small space. Despite the lack of zoning, the room harmoniously accommodates a sleeping place, a storage system, and a kitchenette. In appearance, the apartments resemble a luxury hotel room, but with the bonus of a cooking area. It is quite compact but includes everything you need, such as a mini-fridge, a two-burner cooktop, and a built-in microwave. The set was chosen in the color of the walls and without handles – this makes the kitchen almost invisible.

2. Tiny kitchen with accent splashback

This compact apartment is also designed for rent. The designer was given a difficult task: to make the most functional interior without redevelopment and at the same time not go beyond the designated budget. A small linear set was placed along the wall, and a wide bar counter was placed opposite. It performs three functions at once: it replaces the dining table, can be used as an additional work surface, and zones the kitchen and living room. It also has a small storage system built into it. So that the set does not seem bulky, the upper cabinets were abandoned in favor of a laconic open shelf. A bright accent of this zone is an apron lined with beautiful green hexagonal tiles.

3. Minimalist kitchen in a niche

It was possible to create an airy and at the same time quite bright interior of the kitchen in a small niche. It is fenced off from the living room with a glass partition, but not solid in the form of an arch. Taking into account the features of the layout, the enclosed space looks spacious and stylish. This was achieved, among other things, thanks to the cabinet’s minimalistic facades, neutral palette, and wood texture. At the same time, it cannot be said that the kitchen looks faceless: it has its own character and rhythm, which are set by contrasting black details. They act as accents against the neutral background of the rest of the interior.

4. Bright space with sky-blue furniture

The interior of this kitchen is decorated in a bright and atypical palette for small rooms. The main accent is the sky blue color, which was used on the facades of the headset. It successfully contrasts with different shades of wood, which balances it in warmth. Thanks to this soft contrast, the bright interior looks calm and at the same time fresh. The designer also paid attention to the functional component: a spacious L-shaped set with built-in appliances, including a microwave, and a large Side-by-Side refrigerator were placed in the cooking area. There is also a dining area for three.

5. Stylish kitchen in warm natural colors

The space of this kitchen looks very inviting – largely due to a well-chosen palette. It is based on neutral natural shades of green and beige. Both colors are warm, which makes the kitchen especially cozy. Black was used as a contrast: it is used in decor, furniture, and a pendant lamp and plays the role of a kind of frame that brings the whole picture together. Despite the small area, it was possible to place everything you need here. The entire length of one of the walls is occupied by a linear set, and a column for a refrigerator is built in next to it. Opposite placed a dining area for several people.
