Leela Residence is a ZxP Design project in Bangalore, India. The area of the apartment in the residential complex is 240 sq. meters. The client here wanted a home that exudes happiness. The use of colors, textures, and finishes has been done in such a way that the space feels layered, open, and airy.
The interior is full of geometric patterns and retro shades, bold and dynamic. The colors are slightly muted with a special emphasis on white, so the space feels fresh and airy, and other colors work very well with white.
At the entrance, there is an cupboard with a beautiful painting hanging over it. The dining room flows smoothly into the living room. Next to the living room is the master bedroom with arched niches. The corridor from here leads to the son’s room, the daughter’s room. The most commonly used materials in interiors are wood, marble in decor and furniture, and complex inlay for decoration. The outdoor seating area is reminiscent of Moroccan design traditions with its color and decor. Each room is unique, emphasizing the individuality of the user and reflecting the ideals of a cheerful worldview.
Says Smitha Zachariah, Creative Lead, ZxP Design: “The clients are a couple with two small children who love spending time with their family at home. The owner of the apartment was the owner of one of the largest fabric stores in Bangalore. I met him a long time ago, he liked the way I work with fabrics and colors. I think this is one of the main reasons why he chose me as the designer for this project. Prior to our intervention, it was a very standard space, like a typical three-room apartment with nothing out of the ordinary. So I had to innovate and design to make the space feel informal.”
