Bright interior with retro elements

In the bright two-room apartment interior shimmering with soft pearl shades, everything necessary for a married couple is provided. The apartment has a comfortable environment for daily activities and communication, the harmonious design includes retro elements, and original decorative accents are placed in a calm rhythm.

The design of this bright apartment in a monolithic-concrete new building with a brick cladding of facades meets the needs of many citizens: comfortable layout, spacious and cozy interiors with elements of classic, Provence, and retro. The rest of the wishes of the customers came down to the following: a studio layout of the public area, which includes a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen, and the latter should be moved to the back of the room; the arrangement of the master bedroom and study, which can also serve as a guest room. In both private rooms it was required to provide dressing rooms, and it was also necessary to equip two bathrooms – a guest and a master bathroom with a bathtub.

Redevelopment

The apartment tends to be square in plan, the light openings are located along the outer wall, and the central one (it is larger in size than the side ones) is a shallow, fully glazed bay window, to which two loggias adjoin. In general, a lot of light enters the apartment, because the external glazing is almost continuous. Between the central room and one of the side rooms, there is a long section of the bearing wall.

The old partitions were mostly removed, getting rid of the corridor, as well as “opening up” the space of the hallway and reducing it in accordance with the proportions of the apartment. One of the loggias was attached to the current guest bedroom, the window sill was removed, and the kitchen was moved to the back of the studio, to the place of the former corridor. All changes in the layout were agreed with the relevant authorities. The toilets remained within the boundaries. In the areas remote from the windows of both bedrooms, small dressing rooms were arranged.

Each part of the studio was designed in such a way that its appearance became memorable and expressive, but not dissonant with the decoration of neighboring areas. The entrance hall is connected to the kitchen by a wide opening, so it was decided to paste over the end wall of the entrance room with wallpaper in a wide vertical white and turquoise stripe. This pattern “stretches” the interior vertically, and color shades give the latter visual depth and coolness.

The image of lace is played out in an original way: two hemispheres of large chandeliers – in the center of the living room and above the dining table – are decorated from the inside with the finest stucco decor; The theme is continued by the carved backs of white plastic chairs, whose pattern echoes the even larger pattern of 3D panels behind the TV area. At the same time, the outer surface of the shades is painted black, as well as the round dining table and the metal frames of the coffee tables in the living room.

Repair

A screed was made in the apartment, the floors were tiled with porcelain tiles (entrance hall, bathrooms, a strip along the kitchen modules), under which electric heating was laid, in the bedrooms and studios – oak parquet boards. New partitions were erected from foam blocks. The loggias were insulated, and double-glazed windows were replaced with better ones. In the bedroom, both doors leading to the loggia were extended to the floor, so that there was more natural light inside. Air conditioners were installed in private rooms and studio, external units were placed under the windows on the facade (it faces the courtyard).

Design

Adjusted proportions and economically used non-standard decor techniques helped to create a peaceful atmosphere. The walls of the studio shine with whiteness, a subtle grayish-lavender hue gives the interior a feeling of freshness. On one of the walls of the bedroom, this tone thickens to a rich, but muted lavender, and in the kitchen, a glossy apron tile in a complex beige shade adds another close, only warmer color note. The textures are played very well: the back wall of a large niche in the living room is decorated with 3D panels that create a beautiful pattern of ornament due to chiaroscuro.

Important conditions in the work on the project were tight deadlines (five months were spent on design and implementation), as well as a reasonable budget. At the same time, the customers wanted the dwelling to acquire individuality. The owners approved the submitted sketches and no longer interfered in the arrangement process until the turnkey delivery of the apartment. The sofa in the office unfolds, providing two beds for guests. For storage and placement of household appliances, a four-door wardrobe was built into the niche of the guest bathroom. It is divided into two parts: one contains a washing machine, shelves with household chemicals, the other contains an ironing board, a vacuum cleaner, and tools. I selected lamps taking into account interior design, zoning requirements and functional tasks.
