Trends 2023/2024: Yuri Himuro Cultural Rugs

Yuri Himuro, a Japanese designer, designed for cc-tapis an amazing collection of Cultivate carpets based on a special craft weaving technique. This technique was invented by Himuro herself, a well-known textile expert – she became famous for her Snip Snap fabric, which uses a special technique of jacquard weaving, consisting of a double layer.

The user is invited to cut off the top layer to find out what is under it – thus, the new collection consists not only of ready-made flat carpets but also of a kind of “blanks”, where each carpet owner can become a designer himself: the buyer is invited to cut out new patterns according to your own taste. The designer, with the support of cc-tapis, implemented her innovative approach to creating carpets, so that “carving becomes a process of creation, not destruction.”

The concept where the user can cut and “customize” the rug to create their own unique piece of art is unfamiliar to the carpet industry and encourages experimentation. It denotes the desire for the ultimate customization of all items in the home, including textile design.
