7 important things to know about LED Garland

We tell you what you should know about LED home decoration in order to choose the best model.

1. LEDs save energy

A garland with LED bulbs that plugs into an outlet is more economical than other garlands. Halogen lamps or incandescent lamps, depending on the novelty and length of the garland, consume from 20 to 80 watts per hour. And LED – 2-5 W per hour.

For comparison: if you hang three LED garlands with 100 super-bright light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on a Christmas tree, then in an hour of operation in constant glow mode, they will spend 30 times less electricity than one boiled kettle. In flashing mode, the garland consumes a little more energy, but the difference is negligible.

2. Can last up to 10,000 hours

The service life of LED garlands is longer than that of garlands with halogen or incandescent lamps. A good LED garland will last up to 10,000 hours. Other types of lamps – up to 10 times less.

The only problem that you may encounter is that not very high-quality LEDs darken a little over time. But this difference is difficult to notice with the naked eye, especially if you take out a garland only for New Year’s decoration of the house.

3. Available for use inside and outside the home

LED garlands can be hung both inside the house and outside. Sometimes manufacturers even allow the use of one garland indoors and outdoors.

But more often they are different models. The fact is that the wires of street garlands are protected from moisture and mechanical damage by an additional layer of insulating coating to eliminate the possibility of a short circuit. And this means that the wires are thicker. It will be invisible on the street, but in the room, such a garland will look too rough and may be too heavy for a small live Christmas tree.

4. LEDs have low heat generation

Many people like incandescent string lights because of their warm glow and vintage look. But it must be taken into account that they heat up quite quickly and noticeably. Upon contact with artificial spruce, tinsel, or some kind of textile, such as curtains, smoldering and even fire may occur.

LED lamps do not heat up, so they can be hung or placed on any surface, and even photo shoots can be carried out in them without fear of discomfort.

5. You can choose between AC power or batteries

Another argument in favor of the safety of LED garlands is that, unlike all other types, they can work both from an outlet and from batteries.

The second format eliminates any possibility of a short circuit, so this decoration can be left unattended or hung in a child’s room.

6. Color temperature

LEDs can glow with cold or warm light. Therefore, when buying, pay attention to the packaging and specifications. Typically, manufacturers indicate “cold white” or “warm white” in large letters. But warm white can also be different, look for the exact value of this parameter. The most comfortable yellow glow corresponds to 3,200 K (Kelvins).

7. Available with remote control

Another interesting feature of modern LED technology is the possibility of remote control using a remote control or even a smartphone. In the most advanced garland models, you can use the application to set the intensity and color of the glow of individual LEDs.
