Black apartment for a young family

Designer Anna Zueva designed an expressive space of 82 square meters for a young family, in which black dominates. Playing in one ensemble with deep natural tones, it makes a laconic interior truly elegant and effective.

“ The customers are a young married couple with a child, employees of the banking sector,” says the author of the project. “They dreamed of a cozy nest that would fully suit their lifestyle.”

“Strict tones serve as a neutral backdrop for the flashy elements that fill this apartment. Unusual decor greets guests almost from the doorstep. Floor-to-ceiling mirrors visually enlarge the space by reflecting light from the living room window. An abundance of storage space adds functionality to the interior. A spacious laundry and dressing room relieves the space of unnecessary visual noise.”

“My favorite wall decoration technique is dividing molding. In this interior, it has hidden lighting and works to visually expand the space. We partially transferred the color of the ceiling to the wall, which erased the boundaries of space and allowed us to concentrate our attention on the black line. The color of the ceiling harmoniously combines with the different shades of the walls, uniting them into a single concept.”

“The shades of natural materials combine harmoniously with most colors, including black. We took complex, restrained shades as the basis for the palette. Black in the interior is my clients’ favorite color. It is this color that underlies the minimalist, but at the same time color-rich interior. In addition, black goes well with a beige ceiling, dramatic red, brutal gray, and all shades of green and brown.”

“This project has many interesting technological and engineering solutions: a built-in plinth for hidden lighting, an exhaust ventilation system, and inverter-type ducted air conditioners, which we placed in the bedrooms above the doors so as not to spoil the appearance of the rooms with internal units. Our customer really wanted to breathe clean and fresh air in the apartment, so we provided a double-flow breather for installation inside the wall. The screen from the breather was disguised by painting it the same color as the walls.”

“The customers were very sensitive to the implementation of the design project. Every detail was important to them! They liked the concept of their future space so much that we didn’t move a single step from our goal.”

“ The bathroom is my special love. It resembles a spaceship because of the light, color and textures. The dark shade of the tiles gives the interior a more sophisticated look, and the lighting and green sink look great against the black background.”

“ The most unusual, in my opinion, was the dressing room. This secondary space gets its own dose of style thanks to the unconventional combination of colors and unusual layout of the facades.”

“I am especially proud of the planning decisions in this project. It served as the starting point for our excellent and trusting relationships with customers. We managed to create an ergonomic, functional and most thoughtful space. This is exactly how they imagined him! From the standard layout from the developer, we received a spacious studio with a common space of a kitchen-living room and a hall with a library area, two bedrooms, a bathroom, a dressing room and a laundry room.”
