Brick pavilion-library in China designed by HCCH Studio

HCCH Studio architects have built a library building for a local community in the Chinese province of Zhejiang. The structure consists of two hemispheres five meters high, made of red brick, and positioned in such a way as to blur the boundary between the exterior and the interior. Natural light enters the pavilion’s interior through a sinuous opening at the top of the structure and symmetrical openings in the walls. Along the perimeter of the building, you can see small transparent acrylic hemispheres, inside of which the architects placed text. One of the main tasks of the HCCH Studio team was to maintain the visual continuity of the building, which required special placement of brickwork in several layers. The resulting pavilion provides a space for reading and reflection, inviting visitors to interact with their surroundings.
