Cool and clever under stair storage ideas

KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL

Bespoke kitchen manufacturer, Mowlem & Co has used the space under this mezzanine staircase for tuck a pantry into this open-plan kitchen-dining space.

This stylish under stair storage was designed by Andy Martin Architecture. The tall panelled timber doors disguise a guest W.C. and ample cupboard space and follow through to a huge kitchen larder.

DOUBLE UP

These super tall double doors max the under stair space here, utilising the height inside the cupboard for hanging coats, bags and shoes.

CLEVERLY CONCEALED

Architect David Money has maximised his under stair storage to create a utility area at the tallest end and further bike storage in the middle, all cleverly concealed behind linear plywood panelling and doors.

LIGHTEN UP

Architect John Eger of Eger Architects redesigned this staircase in oak, replacing what had been an area for a lift with a glazed lightwell, hung with new lighting. On the other side, tucked under the stairs is bespoke kitchen cabinetry.

BACK TO BASICS

In this home, the space under the stairs has been carved out for an extra W.C. as well as a storage idea for small space. Handy, for the family and visitors wanting to wash hands on arrival. The flash of pink on the stylish stair runner and artwork inject personality into the hallway.

SEAMLESS STORAGE

Seamless cupboards run under the stairs and are built into the walls, while a glass balustrade on one side of the stairs and light walls and floor keep the mood bright and airy. Get the look The design is by The Vawdrey House

The panelled door and wall lead to a tidy nook for hanging coats and bags.

Not so much under stair storage, as between stair storage. This bookcase cum staircase was designed by David Money Architects.

ROOF GARDEN

This ladder staircase is surrounded by huge potted plants creating an urban oasis.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

Robert Rhodes Architecture + Interiors were brought on board to better connect the home's living spaces to the garden. The stairs lead down to the kitchen and dining area at garden level.
