Small living room: 5 solutions with layouts

The design of a small living room is based on smart zoning. A combined compact space should often combine several functions: one room also has a kitchen, dining room, study and even a bedroom. On the other hand, an isolated small living room should be spacious and free from visual noise. Designers prefer to work with color and use built-in storage systems.

Apartment with a color of 45 square meters

A small apartment of 45 square meters – a classic in appearance and condition with old communications, decoration of the “last century” and an inconvenient layout.

Globally, the redevelopment was not changed, but they were able to rethink and improve it. The wall in the bedroom was moved towards the living room, resulting in a niche for the bed. From the side of the living room, the ledge was played with symmetrical built-in showcases and a fireplace.

The basis of the design concept of a small living room was the color in the interior. “We tried to look at the whole space and did not introduce colors separately into each room or on each wall, but tried to work with the volumes. The number of shades was minimized, thereby creating the illusion of a larger area, “say Natalia and Elena.

Apartment of 39 square meters in Odessa

The architects of SVOYA Studio turned a standard one-bedroom apartment with an isolated kitchen into a spacious studio apartment for a secluded holiday by the sea.

The original layout was rethought: the wall between the kitchen and the room was broken, all the main functions were located in one open, filled with air and light room.

The entrance area is combined with a small living room. Along the wall on the left is a roomy storage system. It performs a form-forming function: it aligns the initially trapezoidal compact apartment.

The decoration is minimalistic – painted walls, self-leveling floors, concrete wall without finishing. The authors preferred strict forms and laconic color combinations: white, gray, wood. The contrast in the small apartment was brought by accents in red tones.

Line Design Studio: small apartment in Kaliningrad

The apartment of 32 square meters is located in a residential building of the 1920s. Line Design Studio was invited to rethink the space. The authors were faced with the task of creating a space for a comfortable life, placing everything necessary on a modest square.

All the walls, except for the partitions of the bathroom, were dismantled. The apartment has a small living room with a sleeping place behind blackout curtains, an isolated kitchen, a dressing room and a bathroom. The peculiarity of the layout is the possibility of combining zones.

The basis of the coloristic solution was white. The walls and ceiling are deliberately roughly plastered and painted. Shades of gray are used for zoning space, black gives the interior graphic. The accent color was terracotta, which looks especially impressive in combination with the greenery of plants.

Zrobym architects: apartment of 46 square meters in Minsk

Apartment in Minsk — project of Alexei Korablev, architectural bureau Zrobym architects. All functional areas are combined in one room – the interior unfolds sequentially.

A small kitchen-living room is formed with the possibility of circular movement around the room, which is psychologically very comfortable for living in a small apartment.

All elements of the interior echo each other. The main character was natural wood, from which almost all the furniture in the project is made. Dilutes the overall monotony powder pink shade.

A notable solution is a projector fixed under the ceiling. The architect abandoned the black rectangle of the TV panel, which would destroy the organic minimalist space.

Mediterranean apartment of 33 square meters

Architect Anastasia Rykova, Design Studio Special Style, designed the apartment, the central element of which was the view from the windows of the Novodevichy Convent. We wanted to continue the theme of the surrounding nature, which would calm, dispose to rest. The apartment turned out to be simple, cozy, with natural accents, “says Anastasia.

It was necessary to create a functional apartment with the maximum number of storage spaces. The living room in the small house is separated from the kitchen by a light glass partition.

The space is environmentally friendly. The apartment used a large amount of natural textured wood, including the addition of expressive ceiling beams. The image of the cottage was supported by a palette of natural neutral shades and simple textiles (linen, cotton).
