Transforming Space into Sanctuary: Inside the 102 sq. m. Apartment

The apartment with an area of 102 sq. meters is located in a residential complex. The owners, a married couple, ordered a design project from the Artumstudio team, and at the configuration stage, they turned to the FlowPlace studio. “Successful, self-realized people, devote a lot of energy and strength to their work. Therefore, it was important to create an atmosphere of harmony and comfort that would help reboot after a hard day,” says Flowplace head Irina Arestova. Interior stylist and decorator Alexandra Nedumova helped decorate the apartment for living and for photography.

The Magnifika Lifestyle residential quarter was built according to the design of the Finnish company T-Architects and the architectural bureau A2, the buildings are marked with the Green Zoom environmental certificate. The facades are lined with hand-molded Tiileri bricks and Belgian Cedral panels, there are panoramic glazing, terraces and spacious balconies. The layout from the developer generally suited the customers, the only thing they didn’t like was the cramped entrance area. Therefore, at the design stage, designer Tatyana Vinogradova proposed combining the entrance area with the living room.

The complex is located near the city center, however, the owners have the opportunity to admire the beautiful view: the apartment windows overlook not only neighboring buildings but also the Okhta River. “During my first visit, my attention was attracted by the large windows: thanks to them, a feeling of unity with nature arose,” says Alexandra Nedumova. — To emphasize this advantage, we abandoned curtains in the living room. Plants on the large balcony enhance the impression that nature is nearby. Natural environmentally friendly materials – wood and stone, as well as shades of a natural palette support the concept: nature as a source of inspiration.”

“We used furniture from brands with a long-standing reputation and their own philosophy. You can tell a story about each item, from each you get not only visual, but also tactile pleasure: all seams, joints, rivets are checked by hand. Details decide a lot, so the focus was also on them: the dishes and decor were selected not just according to color schemes to support the basis of the interior, but also with great love for the craftsmen who made them. These things are made and painted by hand.”

For the apartment, we purchased a table, chairs, armchairs, a sofa from the Italian company Calligaris, a Ditre Italia bed, and a Next125 kitchen. Dishes and decor – from Gien, Degrenne, Pols Potten, Guax, and Calligaris. Designer Tatyana Vinogradova paid a lot of attention not only to aesthetics but also to ergonomics and functionality. Built-in wardrobes the full height of the rooms in the color of the walls do not overload the space, while creating a lot of storage space. The kitchen modules are located on two sides of the room; this layout makes it possible to accommodate all the necessary household appliances.

“The selection of art for a project is like a separate chapter in a novel,” says Alexandra Nedumova. — Here it is important to help the customer choose exactly what will evoke emotions in him. Sometimes this requires being patient and waiting. Because an empty wall is better than work that does not touch those who will live next to it. In this project, we managed to immediately hit the mark with the painting by Alexander Pesterev for the bedroom – the owners had love at first sight. It’s impossible not to notice: people’s eyes are burning.” In the corridor and on the balcony there are works by Sergei Yashin, in the living room – by Evgeny Zaremba and Yaroslav Seleznev, all from the ARTMaley gallery.
