7 design hotels in Rome, Milan, Venice

In luxury designer hotels in Italy – the whole essence of the national interior: monumentality, the memory of the masters, and a love for natural materials. Seven guidelines for the choice of “MINIMALISM”

VALDAORA In the Italian part of South Tyrol, an extension to the Hubertus hotel was made. The authors of the project are the local bureau Noa. In the annex, there are 16 suites, kitchen, restaurant, lobby, and a wine cellar. The hotel has become a local landmark thanks to the swimming pool on a spectacularly placed structure. The pool seems to float in the air. The slab looks thin thanks to transparent glass fences.

VENICE JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa – project of architect and designer Matteo Thun (Matteo Thun & Partners). Since the 1930s, the building has housed a hospital. Now a state-of-the-art hotel with 230 rooms with a spacious roof terrace. The complex also includes a villa built of brick, in art nouveau style, and several pavilions. Matteo Thun managed to create a number of spectacular, purely architectural spaces.

ROME In the Palazzo Fendi on the fashionable Via dei Condotti opened a boutique hotel Fendi Private Suites. Seven luxury rooms occupy the third floor of the building. From the windows, there are breathtaking views of the Plaza de España and the Trevi Fountain, restored at the expense of Fendi Houses. The design of the hotel was entrusted to the architect Marco Costanzi. He created interiors luxurious but nobly restrained.

Against the backdrop of lush summer residences and neoclassical palaces of Lake Como, Il Sereno stands out for its absolutely pure architecture and modern interiors. The facades are only local stone of gray shades, walnut panels dominate in the interior decoration. Of course, Urquiola used her own design, the items she designed for Cassina, Kettal, Molteni&C, B&B Italia, and Moroso.

ROME Built in the 1750s in Piazza di Paschino, the G-Rough (Design Hotels) awaits guests in an old five-story building. The complete renovation was carried out by the architect Giorgia Cerulli. In the work on the interiors, she was assisted by Gabriele Salini and Vittorio Mango. They filled the spacious rooms with Italian design from the 1920s and 1970s. Including the masterpieces of Silvio Cavatorta, Ico Parisi, Guglielmo Ulrich, and Gio Ponti.

MILAN Senato Milano was opened by representatives of the fourth generation of the Family of Milanese entrepreneurs Ranza. Five-story neoclassical building – architect’s project Alessandro Bianchi.
